One person was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon following a multi-vehicle crash in Goleta, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 1 p.m. to the collision on Hollister Avenue at Los Carneros Road, said fire Capt. Scott Safechuck.

An older model Mercedes reportedly was westbound on Hollister at a high rate of speed when it collided with other vehicles, Safechuck said, adding that five vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Mercedes driver suffered moderate injuries, Safechuck said, and was taken by American Medical Response ambulance to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

His name and details on his condition were not available.

A female occupant of one of the other vehicles sustained minor injuries, but declined medical treatment.

The crash was under investigation by the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
