Authorities briefly locked down Adams Elementary School Thursday afternoon while searching for an “erratic driver” suspect. Santa Barbara Police said the campus was thoroughly searched and no person was found.
At 9 p.m., Sgt. Bryan Kerr said surveillance footage from the campus showed that the report of an erratic driver who had parked at the school and run on campus was “ultimately unfounded.”
At 11:50 a.m. Thursday, Santa Barbara Police asked to put the school on “secure” status, which means people stay inside and lock their doors, Principal Kelly Fresch wrote in a message to school families.
Classes continued instruction.
Police finished the search at 12:30 p.m. and confirmed the campus was safe, Fresch said in the message shared by the Santa Barbara Unified School District.
Adams Elementary School is located at 2701 Las Positas Road.
