Santa Ynez’s Emily Ruiz earned her second medalist honors of the week, and the Pirates edged San Marcos 265 to 270 for the second Channel League win of the week Thursday at Alisal River Course.
Riley O’Brien paced San Marcos with a 48.
Mackenzie Phelan chipped in a 47 for Santa Ynez.
“Seniors Alison Swanitz and Kylee Johnson came up huge for us playing in the last group and contributing scores that made the difference in the match,” Santa Ynez coach Sara Ovadia said.
“I am very proud of the whole team effort from our girls this week.”
The Pirates’ win Thursday over San Marcos and Tuesday over Santa Barbara moved them in a three-way tie for second place with those two teams in the league. Undefeated Dos Pueblos is the league leader.
