Santa Barbara’s popular Empty Bowls event is making a comeback, this time as a benefit for the Children’s Creative Project, which for the last 50 years has supported art education for more than 65,000 students a year.

Empty Bowls will be 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11 at SBCC’s Great Meadow on the West Campus. Parking is free.

For $15, attendees can choose one hand-made bowl and can shop in the Market Place for more ceramic pieces. Children under 18 get in free.

For tickets and details, visit www.ccp.sbceo.org.

Additional event activities include dancing; water-color painting; face painting; storytelling with Michael Katz; instrument exploration with Nick Rail; net weaving; and other hands-on art projects.

Music will be provided by Spencer the Gardener, Mendeleyev, Whatever Forever, and some surprise guests. There will be food trucks as well.

“Since all children get in free, be sure to bring your children and grandchildren for a fun time to be had by all. And get your final bowl from the Empty Bowls potters,” organizers said.
