The EQ25 Alliance, a volunteer organization created to commemorate events and activities of the 100th anniversary of the Santa Barbara earthquake, has launched a website EQ25.org.

EQ25.org will offer resources, news and opportunities related to the commemoration of the earthquake centennial, June 29, 2025, mark ing100 years since the great Santa Barbara earthquake of 1925.
Recently, members of various community organizations in Santa Barbara formed the EQ25 Alliance to promote the commemoration of the epic event.
The new website furthers the EQ25 Alliance’s goal of promoting informative and entertaining programs, events, exhibitions, and community gatherings.
EQ25.org will serve as a clearinghouse for information about events related to the earthquake centennial, and will be updated regularly.
EQ25.org features a collection of historic photographs and resources for those interested in the history of the temblor and its aftermath. EQ25.org includes a mission statement, a list of EQ25 Alliance participants, and contact information. A separate page acknowledges the contributions of local sponsors.
The 1925 earthquake transformed Santa Barbara. After the tragedy, Santa Barbarans rolled up their sleeves and rebuilt the city in ways that gave it a unique urban and architectural character.
The EQ25 Alliance believes the civic effort involved in rebuilding Santa Barbara is inspirational and merits celebration, and the EQ25.org website is designed to support this community effort.
“A greater understanding of the history of Santa Barbara is an effective way to increase awareness of present conditions and opportunities and to prepare for future challenges,” the EQ25 Alliance said.
