Explore Ecology has received a $10,000 donation from the Johnson Ohana Foundation. The contribution will allow Explore Ecology to reach thousands of students with creative reuse art, garden, and environmental education programs across Santa Barbara County.
“We are incredibly grateful to the Johnson Ohana Foundation for their continued support,” said Lindsay Johnson, executive director of Explore Ecology. “This funding enables us to expand our mission by delivering hands-on learning in school gardens, classrooms, and on field trips to the Watershed Resource Center, the Tajiguas Landfill, and Art From Scrap.”
With the Johnson Ohana Foundation’s support, Explore Ecology is better equipped to bring nature-based learning and environmental stewardship to life. Its programs encourage students to explore, create, and connect with the natural world, deepening their understanding of sustainability and prompting them to protect the planet.
Explore Ecology serves some 38,000 children annually, sparking their curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for the natural world. Explore Ecology programs include the Art From Scrap Creative Reuse Store, Watershed Resource Center, EE Makerspace, Environmental Education, and the School Gardens Program.
