On a still-soaking turf following a downpour, Dos Pueblos girls lacrosse never let Royal High take the lead and notched a 12-9 victory Tuesday at Scott O’Leary Stadium.
“The Chargers hit the ground running, scoring the first three goals of the game,” said coach Samantha Limkeman. “The Highlanders put up a good fight though, and even came within one goal of the Chargers at one point.”
The first half ended 9-5, and a “defensive wall” of Chargers, led by midfielder Katie Naretto, caused turnovers. Each of Naretto’s four interceptions led to Charger goals.
“Naretto was there in every play going for ground balls, interceptions, and reading the Highlander’ decisions,” said Limkeman.
Olivia Geyling led the Chargers’ offensively with four goals, Avery Ball had three and both Taylor Orefice and Sydney Steele came up with two.
The non-league win pushes DP’s season record to 6-3. The Chargers play host to Oaks Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
