One person was killed in a vehicle versus bicyclist collision in Carpinteria Tuesday morning, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The fatal collision was reported at 8:44 a.m. in the area of Highway 150 and Via Real, on the east side of the city.  

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Raquel Zick said authorities closed Highway 150/Rincon Road between Via Real and Highway 101 for several hours while deputies investigated the crash. It was reopened around noon.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision remained at the scene, she added.

The name of the person killed in the crash has not been released, pending notification to the family, Zick said.
