One person and two pets died in a structure fire Tuesday afternoon in a Goleta Valley home, Santa Barbara County Fire Department Capt. Mike Gray confirmed.
Emergency responders were called to the 5000 block of Amberly Place at around 2:14 p.m. for a report of a fire inside a front bedroom in a one-story home.
More information about the circumstances of the fire and the person who died were not available Tuesday. Gray identified the deceased pets as a cat and a dog.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss,” Gray said.
“The area has been secured, and residents and motorists are advised to continue avoiding the vicinity to ensure clear access for emergency personnel.”
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the County Fire Department.
