Firefighters made quick work of a vegetation fire that burned less than an acre Wednesday afternoon along Calle Real near Goleta.

Firefighters made quick work of a small vegetation fire that broke out Wednesday afternoon near Goleta.

The fire was reported shortly before 5 p.m. along Calle Real near San Antonio Road, east of Turnpike Road, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The blaze charred less than an acre of light grass, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said, and no structures were threatened.

It took about 20 minutes to fully contain the fire, and crews remained on scene for a couple hours doing mop-up, Safechuck said.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
