A large contingent of firefighters quickly doused a vegetation fire in the Ballard Canyon area of the Santa Ynez Valley on Saturday afternoon.

A county helicopter made three water drops on the blaze, which broke out near the 2000 block of Ballard Canyon Road, according to fire Capt. Scott Safechuck of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

A Cal Fire strike team also responded to the fire, which was reported a little after 3 p.m.

No structures were threatened by the flames, Safechuck said, adding that a little more than an acre was burned.

Cause of the fire was under investigation.
