Firefighters launched a water rescue near Gaviota Beach on Sunday when a mother and two children became trapped on the rocks by the rising tide.
Shortly before noon, personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and State Parks responded to the incident at Gaviota State Park, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
Firefighters deployed on jet skis to locate the subjects, a mother and two children, ages 11 and 13, Safechuck said.
About 30 minutes later, firefighters said they located the three subjects and took steps to get them to safety on a trail near Mariposa Reina, Safechuck added.
An American Medical Response ambulance crew also was dispatched to the scene, but the three subjects were not injured.
Firefighters also had prepared to launch a rubber boat into the water, if needed for the rescue.
A county Air Support Unit helicopter initially dispatched to the incident had to be canceled due to low visibility along the coast, according to emergency dispatch reports.
