Fireworks were blamed for a residential structure fire that broke out late Saturday in Goleta, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Crews responded at about 10:50 p.m. to the 6200 block of Westmoreland Place, off Carlo Drive south of Cathedral Oaks Road, where they found a carport in flames, fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli said.

“An aggressive attack keep the fire in check,” he said, adding that firefighters were able to prevent the fire from reaching the attached residence.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.

“The fire was believed to be caused by the use of fireworks in the area,” Bertucelli said.

Crews remained on the scene doing mop-up and overhaul after the flames were doused.
