Five local lacrosse teams will look to make waves in the CIF-SS playoffs beginning next week.

There will be two local girls squads and three boys teams on the quest for a CIF-SS title.

Girls Lacrosse

San Marcos has been dominant all season, enjoying a 16-2 overall record and a Channel League title on their way to the Div. 3 playoffs.

Thanks to their success in the regular season, the Royals received the No. 1 overall seed and a first-round bye.

San Marcos will take on Downey (11-10, 1st in Moore) in a second-round matchup next Saturday at 5 p.m. at Warkentin Stadium.

Cate finished behind the Royals in the Channel League, going 9-5 in the regular season and finishing second in the Channel League.

The Rams also slotted into the Div. 3 playoff bracket, where they will host the first-round battle.

Cate will take on Millikan (8-10, 3rd in Moore) at home on Thursday at 5 p.m.

Boys Lacrosse

Cate wrapped up its regular season with a 7-3 record and second-place finish in the Channel League to clinch a spot in the Div. 2 playoffs.

The Rams will host a wild-card matchup against Canyon (13-5, 3rd in Crestview) on Monday at 5 p.m.

The winner of that showdown will hit the road to take on Palos Verdes (9-9, 2nd in Bay) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the official opening round of the playoffs.

Dos Pueblos turned in a dominant regular season that featured an 11-2 record and the first Channel League title in program history.

As a result, the Chargers received a first-round bye in the Div. 3 bracket.

They will host the winner of a matchup between Grace (8-7, 3rd in Coastal Canyon) and Brentwood (9-6, 2nd in Gold Coast) on Friday at 5 p.m.

Santa Barbara High turned it up late in the season and made a push to clinch a Div. 3 playoff spot.

The Dons finished the year in third place in the Channel League with a record of 5-9.

They will open up postseason action at home, taking on Woodbridge (8-7, 4th in Pacific Coast) on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Peabody Stadium.
