Five local high school girl golfers had their individual seasons come to an end at the CIF-SS Individual Northern Regional Tournament on Wednesday at Los Robles Golf Course in Thousand Oaks.

Dos Pueblos’ Celeste Alcaraz, the San Marcos duo of Simrin Singh and Mia Rocha and Santa Barbara High’s Ceci Duarte represented the Channel League in the 18-hole postseason match.

Alcaraz led the locals with a 44th-place finish out of the 124 golfers, shooting an eight-over-par 78.

“Celeste played very well out there today. She was confident and mentally focused and striking the ball really well,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Choi said. “It was great to see how much she has improved since last year. She bettered her last year’s performance by 13 strokes.

“She fought hard all day and ended her last hole with a birdie. She was close today and I have no doubt that she will work hard to be back next year and will qualify to move on. She has been such a wonderful leader for our team all year and you could not ask for a better role model for our team.”

Meanwhile, Singh carded an 86 for the Royals and Mia Rocha finished the day at 109.

“The play was slow but [Singh] stayed focused on what she could control and kept a nice even tempo throughout the day and maintained a positive attitude in the round,” San Marcos head coach Sarah Ashton said.

“Rocha struggled to find her groove on the course today, but never wavered in her optimistic outlook and continued to put her best effort forward all day.”

The San Marcos duo and the rest of the Royals will continue their season in the CIF-SS Division 4 team playoffs on Monday in Victorville.

Duarte rounded out the local golfers at 101 to slot into 105th place overall.

“Ceci Duarte played solid golf all season. Her consistent play continued today on a challenging course with a field of Southern California’s best high school girls golfers,” Santa Barbara High head coach Ryan Throop said.

“Although Ceci didn’t qualify for the next round, she looks forward to returning her senior year, improving, and making a run for the CIF finals.”
