A flood advisory was issued Thursday morning through 10 a.m. for areas of Santa Barbara County, as some heavy rain moved across the region.
Minor flooding was expected across the county, including the Santa Ynez Valley, Gaviota Coast, Goleta, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria.
Residents and visitors should expect to see minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, as well as road travel delays, the National Weather Service said.
In Santa Barbara, rain was expected to continue through the rest of Thursday before trailing off Friday morning.
The NWS recommended avoiding any travel in the mountains through the end of Thursday.
The forecast of rainy, windy weather and high surf also led the agency to recommend charging devices in case of power outages; parking vehicles away from trees; and staying away from the ocean.
“Do NOT cross flooded roads,” the NWS said on Thursday.
A high surf advisory was in effect through 10 p.m. Friday for local beaches, with the possibility of large breaking waves of 10-15 feet and dangerous rip currents.
A wind advisory was in effect through 9 p.m. Thursday with gusts up to 45 mph expected in coastal and valley areas.
A winter storm warning was in effect for interior mountains, including San Rafael Mountain and Figueroa Mountain, through 7 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service said 1-4 inches of snow was expected for elevations 3,500-4,000 feet, which includes local mountain peaks and the Grapevine of Interstate 5.
Up to a foot of snow is possible for higher elevations in the region, the winter storm warning says.
