After another soaking from storms, Santa Barbara should get a break in the rain this weekend.

Windy, rainy weather was expected through Thursday before trailing off Friday morning, the National Weather Service said.

A wind advisory was in effect through 9 p.m., with gusts up to 45 mph, and a flood advisory was issued in the morning when heavy rain moved through the area.

Seven-day rainfall totals for the county include: 2.6 inches in Santa Maria; 2.32 in Guadalupe; 3.51 in Lompoc; 3.02 in Buellton; 3.13 in Solvang; 2.04 in Goleta; 2.05 in Santa Barbara; and 1.47 in Carpinteria. Tecolote Canyon, west of Goleta, recorded 4.83 inches.

Santa Barbara County has surpassed 100% of its normal rainfall amounts for the year, and local reservoirs are full including Lake Cachuma.

The NWS recommended avoiding any travel in the mountains through the end of Thursday.

The forecast of rainy, windy weather and high surf also led the agency to recommend charging devices in case of power outages; parking vehicles away from trees; and staying away from the ocean.

“Do NOT cross flooded roads,” the NWS said on Thursday.

A high surf advisory was in effect through 10 p.m. Friday for local beaches, with the possibility of large breaking waves of 10-15 feet and dangerous rip currents.

A wind advisory was in effect through 9 p.m. Thursday with gusts up to 45 mph expected in coastal and valley areas.

A winter storm warning was in effect for interior mountains, including San Rafael Mountain and Figueroa Mountain, through 7 a.m. Friday.

The National Weather Service said 1-4 inches of snow was expected for elevations 3,500-4,000 feet, which includes local mountain peaks and the Grapevine of Interstate 5.

Up to a foot of snow is possible for higher elevations in the region, the winter storm warning says.
