The Santa Barbara Foresters got off on the right foot for the second half of the season Thursday with an 11-4 win over the San Luis Obispo Blues in California Collegiate League play at Pershing Park.

After losing four out of their last six games before the break, the ‘Sters welcomed the balanced attack in the win. The team is now 9-7 in CCL play.

“We came out on all cylinders,” Foresters manager Bill Pintard told sbforesters.org. “We have something to prove here, we’re not liking what was going on in the first half. So we want to come back and keep it rolling. We had it all tonight, one of our most complete ballgames of the season.”

Foresters DH Steven Zobac had three hits, including a home run and a double, driving in three runs and leading an 11-hit attack for the team. Third baseman Dylan Campbell and shortstop Andrew Kachel added two hits apiece.

The Foresters were also 8-0 in stolen base attempts, with Campbell, Kachel and center fielder Kendall Pettis taking two thefts apiece.

Five Forester pitchers combined on 17 strikeouts and giving up three earned runs. Starter Christian Delashmit went five innings, getting his second win, and striking out eight.

The Foresters continue a three-game homestand on Friday, facing the Ventura Pirates in a nonleague game starting at 6 p.m. at Pershing Park. It’s back to CCL play on Saturday, as the Academy Barons come to town, with game time also at 6 p.m.
