The Santa Barbara Foresters couldn’t overcome the early wildness of their pitchers and a three-run deficit and dropped their third road straight road game, a 3-1 decision against the Conejo Oaks on Tuesday at Sparky Anderson Field in Thousand Oaks.
The Foresters walked six batters and hit one with a pitch in the first three innings.
Foresters starter Kyle Robinson walked three batters in the second inning, one of whom scored and the other setting up the second run. Reliever Robert Cranz walked the first batter he saw in the second, and that player came around to score as well.
The Foresters scored in the third. Ty Hodge singled, advanced to second on a Josh Stinson single and wentt to third on a Rylan Charles fly ball. Hodge and Stinson then pulled off a double steal. As Stinson took off from first, the throw sailed to second, allowing Hodge to score.
Kevin Bazzell’s single in the sixth was the only other hit for the Foresters.
Jacob Martinez came out of the bullpen and threw two perfect innings, striking out four.
The Foresters (2-3) are back on the road Wednesday against the Academy Barons in Compton.
The game can be heard on AM 1290, 98.9 FM or at KZSB.com
