The Santa Barbara Foresters snapped their four-game winning streak with a 3-2 loss to the Arroyo Seco Saints in Pasadena on Wednesday.
Starting pitcher Peyton Tolle turned in a solid outing, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out three in six innings of work. However, he didn’t receive much run support.
The Saints got the scoring started in the second inning with an RBI single by Dylan Johnson, putting them up 1-0.
After a scoreless third, the Foresters’ offense answered in the fourth with two runs thanks in large part to miscues by Arroyo Seco to take the lead.
After back-to-back Santa Barbara batters were hit by pitches and a flyout moved Miguel Santos to third base, Santos came in to score on a wild pitch to even the game at 1-1.
Kevin Bazzell, who was hit by a pitch earlier in the inning, then came around to score thanks to an error by the Saints, putting the Foresters up 2-1.
However, that was all the offense Santa Barbara could find for the rest of the night as Arroyo Seco, led by Drew Cowley, mounted a comeback to secure the win. Cowley blasted a solo home run in the sixth and tallied an RBI single in the eighth to put the Saints up 3-2 for good.
The Foresters will cap off their road trip when they take on the MLB Academy Barons in Compton on Thursday at 6 p.m.
