The Santa Barbara Foresters dropped a pitcher’s duel to the OC Riptide 2-1 on Saturday at Pershing Park.
The early story of the game was missed opportunities by the Foresters, as they had two men on base in four of the first five innings, but couldn’t capitalize in any of those frames.
The Riptide opened the scoring with an RBI knock in the top of the fourth to capture a 1-0 lead.
After three scoreless innings, the Riptide doubled their lead to 2-0 after back-to-back doubles in the eighth.
The lone Santa Barbara run came in the bottom of the ninth thanks to a one-out solo home run off the bat of Hunter Ensley, but it was too little, too late and the Foresters fell 2-1.
Graham Osman (3-2) started the game and picked up the unfortunate loss, as he allowed just one unearned run on two hits and four walks while striking out four in five innings Saturday.
The Foresters (24-12) will play their final home game of the summer on Sunday against the SLO Blues at 2 p.m. at Pershing Park.
