A ninth-inning comeback by the Santa Barbara Foresters fell short and they dropped a 5-4 decision to the Ventura Pirates on Monday at Pershing Park.
Down 5-1, pinch-hitter Miguel Santos hit a three-run homer over the left-field fence with two outs to pull the Foresters within a run.
Pinch-hitter Kevin Bazzell drew a walk, bringing up Tanner O’Tremba. O’Tremba hit a deep fly ball to right field, but it wasn’t deep enough and the Foresters went down to defeat.
Will Pendergrass and Josh Stinson each had two hits for the Foresters.
Santa Barbara (13-8) is back in action on Tuesday against the San Luis Blues in San Luis Obispo.
