The Santa Barbara Foresters had their seven-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 loss to the San Luis Obispo Blues on Sunday at Sinsheimer Park.
The Foresters struggled with runners on base, as they collected 11 hits compared to the Blues’ five, but left 11 total runners stranded.
Will Pendergrass opened up the scoring for Santa Barbara with an RBI single in the second inning to put the Foresters up 1-0. However, this was the only lead they would hold all night.
In the fourth inning, the Blues scored all three of their runs to capture a 3-1 lead. Collin Villegas drove in a pair of runs to get the scoring started and he was driven home later in the inning to cap off the scoring.
The only action for the remainder of the game came in the eighth inning after an RBI single by Sebastian Orduo cut the SLO lead to 3-2. The Foresters had runners on second and third with a chance to take the lead later in the inning, but they came up empty and eventually fell 3-2.
Kyle Robinson (1-3) started the game for Santa Barbara, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks while striking out four in five innings of work.
The Foresters (21-11) will play their sixth game in as many days on Monday against the OC Riptide at Great Park at 6:35 p.m.
