The road losing streak ended for the Santa Barbara Foresters on Sunday as they hung on for a 6-5 victory over the San Luis Obispo Blues.
Nick Proctor threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning to secure the win after four straight losses away from home.
Hunter Ensley had three hits and Rylan Charles and Nate Rombach each had two to pace the Santa Barbara offense.
Gavin Kash got the scoring started in the first inning with a RBI single, driving in Charles. In the second, the Foresters scored hree runs on only one hit. A Will Pendergrass single with two on turned into a run when the left fielder bobbled the ball. Austin Stracener’s groundout scored a second run and Miguel Santos made it 4-0 with a sacrifice fly for a RBI.
The Blues cut the lead to 4-3 in the fourth. But in the sixth, Rombach knocked in Kevin Bazzell and then scored on a wild pitch for key insurance runs.
The Blue scratched out a pair of runs in the eighth inning before Ian Churchill got the third out.
Proctor retired the Blues in order in the ninth.
The Foresters (5-4) play Tuesday at Arroyo Seco.
