In her second college match, former Bishop Diego volleyball star Eliana Urzua had a breakout performance for UCLA in a 3-1 loss at Pepperdine on Tuesday.

Urzua posted 14 kills, eight digs, two blocks and scored 15 points in a 25-23, 14-25, 25-17, 25-21 loss in Malibu.

Urzua made her collegiate debut in UCLA’s season-opener and played in two sets, making one dig in a five-set win at Long Beach State on Monday. She played in all four sets against Pepperdine and had 39 attacks. Her hitting percentage was .205.

As a senior at Bishop, Urzua led the Cardinals to the CIF-SS Division 3 final and earned All-CIF honors for the third time. She was the Division 7 Player of the Year as a freshman. In her four-year varsity career, she recorded 1,876 kills, 138.5 blocks and 278 service aces.

Urzua and the Bruins (1-1) return to action on Friday at TCU.
