A trio of former Santa Barbara County football standouts took the field for the 45th annual Secretaries Cup rivalry game at Fenway Park in Boston in November.

Righetti High alumni Matthew (’23) and Lucas Graack (’24), along with Santa Ynez High’s Dallas DeForest (’24), suited up for the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) as it clashed with the Coast Guard Academy.

The USMMA secured the dramatic victory by a score of 39-38 in front of a packed house at the legendary Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox.

All three players received quality snaps throughout the game with Matthew Graack at starting center, DeForest at starting slot back and Lucas Graack rotating in as a blocking tight end.

After the win over Coast Guard Academy, USMMA went on to win its Fusion Bowl matchup with Curry College to end the 2025 season with a strong 8-2 record.

Both DeForest and the Graacks will now go out to sea as part of their Sea Year. Lucas Graack and DeForest will be gone for four months, while Matthew Graack will be at sea for eight months.

Upon their graduation, they will become Commissioned Officers in the US Military.
