A former Santa Barbara city employee has pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography possession.
Dayton Robert Aldrich, 35, of Santa Barbara was sentenced to one year in jail and two years of probation, which began in April. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.
He appeared in court virtually on Wednesday for a firearms review hearing, where the judge found that he is no longer in possession of firearms.
Steven Li, supervising deputy district attorney, said that by the time Aldrich entered his guilty plea, he had served the equivalent of one year in jail.
Aldrich was arrested in August and charged with nine felonies.
Those included: using a minor for sex acts; illegal distribution of media depicting sexual conduct with a person under the age of 18; and two counts of possession or control of child pornography; possession of an assault rifle; two counts of possession of an assault pistol; having extended capacity magazines; and possession of cocaine while armed with a loaded, operable assault weapon.
He pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography possession, and the other allegations were dismissed, according to Superior Court records.
He worked for the city as a community development program specialist and was president of the Winchester Canyon Gun Club at the time of his arrest.
A city spokesperson confirmed that Aldrich no longer works for the city.
