All three local Channel League teams and the Carpinteria High Warriors will represent the Santa Barbara area in the CIF-SS Girls Water Polo playoffs.
Fresh of a Channel League championship, San Marcos will compete in the highly-touted eight-team Open Division while Dos Pueblos drew a berth in Division 1 and Carpinteria and Santa Barbara were slotted into Division 3 in brackets that were revised by the CIF due to an issue with faulty data.
“In the desire for complete transparency, the CIF Southern Section would like to state that the reason for these revisions have nothing to do with the system in place, but rather on a combination of faulty data and in the attempt to be as fair to all member schools as possible, especially those so devastated by the many local fires,” the organization said in a statement.
