Santa Barbara Volleyball Club sent four teams to the Red Rock Rave in Las Vegas last weekend.

The SBVC 15/16s, 14s, 15s and 16s all turned in strong performances in their respective age divisions.

“I’m incredibly proud of the way our teams competed this weekend,” SBVC executive director Matt Riley said. “The teamwork and tenacity displayed was amazing to watch. The teams got better as the tournament went on, which is a testament to our amazing coaching staff.”

15/16s

The SBVC 15/16s team put together a solid weekend, going 4-4 and ending the tournament with two wins on Monday to win their bracket. They won four of their last five matches.

The middle pairing of Faith Harrison and Addy Duex shined offensively and defensively, while Isla Barat and Adri Kostrzewa stood out in the back row on defense.

“This team continues to show up to every tournament with so much effort and energy,” SBVC 15/16s coach Tanner Stevens said. “We had some amazing moments and continued to get better as the weekend went along.”

14s

The SBVC 14s battled throughout the weekend, beginning 0-3 on Day 1 before bouncing back and going 3-0 on Day 2 while facing stiff competition.

The team showed their growth and maturity in a nail-biting 31-29 victory late in the weekend.

15s

The SBVC 15s reached the Silver Medal Finals of the Top Liberty Division, finishing the weekend 24th out of 76 teams.

Grace Costner and Meah Jensen were all over the court, accumulating 10 digs per match each.

Meanwhile, Abby Connor collected 65 assists, and Jacqueline Durling and Cassidy Rose tallied 26 and 18 kills, respectively.

16s

The 16s team rounded out the SBVC teams in Las Vegas by making the finals on the last day of the tournament, bouncing back after a slow start.

Ava Mast dominated from the service line on Day 2, including a 14-point run and 11 aces. Margaret Deakyne recorded 26 kills on the weekend.
