The Cyclones won the 12U Boys title at the AYSO Area 10W Tournament title.

The Santa Barbara AYSO Cyclones, a 12-under boys all-star team, won five matches without a loss to capture a title at the AYSO Area 10W Tournament over the weekend and advance to the Section 10 championships in Bakersfield in February.

The Cyclones will be joined in Bakersfield by Girls 12U and 14U teams and a Boys 14U squad from the Santa Barbara AYSO. The girls’ teams won their division titles, while the 14U boys came in second. The Boys 10U and Girls 10U teams finished third and just missed advancing.

The Section 10 tournament will include teams from 60 AYSO regions.

In the Area 10W tournament, the Cyclones defeated Fillmore (3-0), South Oxnard (5-0), Santa Barbara (3-1) and Ojai (1-0), and edged North Oxnard (1-0) in the championship match. Goalkeepers Graham Millington and Lucas Cruz secured four shutouts, and Nico Anderson Alvarado, Johnny Duffy, Hayden Feleay, Jacob Brown, Mason McClure and Cruz combined to score 13 goals in the competition.

Coach Ken Almada praised the back line of Adam Almada, Enzo DeMatteo, Feleay and McClure. He added that midfielders Mason Dos, Patrick Foster, Senyo Wojogbe, Anderson Alvarado, Duffy and Feleay did a good job at controlling the midfield and combining with the front line for scores.
