Q: What is your level of expertise regarding pet health and behavior?

A: With over 16 years of hands-on animal care experience, I bring a deep understanding of both pet health and behavior to every service I offer. I spent several years working as a veterinary receptionist, where I gained valuable insight into preventive care, emergency protocols, and the importance of communication between pet professionals and pet parents.

For the past 16 years, I’ve also volunteered at the ASAP Cat Shelter, working closely with cats of all temperaments—including those with medical or behavioral challenges. My training in animal body language and behavior interpretation, combined with my certification as a Fear Free® pet sitter, means I’m equipped to provide gentle, stress-reducing care tailored to each animal’s emotional and physical needs.

Q: How do you manage behavioral problems?

A: Many behavioral issues in pets stem from FAS—Fear, Anxiety, or Stress. My approach centers on positive reinforcement and setting pets up for success by focusing on desired behaviors rather than punishing undesirable ones. By gently redirecting and reinforcing positive actions, I help pets feel more secure, confident, and better able to thrive in their environment.

Q: What advice would you give to a new pet owner?

A: Advice for New Pet Owners from a Professional Pet Caregiver:

Build Trust Slowly
Take your time getting to know your pet. Especially if they’re new to your home, give them space to adjust. Use calm, consistent interactions and avoid overwhelming them with too much activity or attention right away.

Establish a Routine
Animals thrive on consistency. Set regular times for feeding, walks, play, and rest. Predictability helps reduce stress and strengthens your bond.

Focus on Positive Reinforcement
Reward the behaviors you want to see—whether it’s sitting calmly, using the litter box, or walking nicely on leash. This not only builds good habits but helps your pet feel safe and confident.

Learn Their Language
Spend time observing your pet’s body language. Recognizing signs of fear, anxiety, or stress (FAS) early can prevent behavior problems and improve your relationship long-term.

Prioritize Socialization—but Do It Mindfully
Expose your pet to new people, animals, and environments gradually and positively. Make each experience a good one by keeping it low-pressure and rewarding calm behavior.

Don’t Be Afraid to Ask for Help
Whether it’s choosing the right food, managing behavior, or finding the right vet or groomer, you don’t have to figure it all out alone. As a pet care professional, I’m always here to help guide you to trusted resources and supportive solutions.

Q: Are you currently accepting new clients?

A: Yes we are!

Q: How do you help make your client feel at ease leaving their pet in your care?

A: I begin every new client relationship with a consultation in your home. This visit gives me a chance to meet you and your pet(s) in a familiar, low-stress environment, learn their routines, and understand any special needs or preferences they may have.

During this meeting, I take detailed notes about feeding schedules, medication instructions, favorite toys, walking routes, and behavior cues—anything that helps me provide care that mirrors your pet’s day-to-day life as closely as possible. I also share my credentials, experience, and answer any questions you have to make sure you feel completely comfortable.

Q: How do you keep the public informed about your business or service(s)?

A: I have a website Pamperpetsb.com, and a quarterly newsletter full of educational and entertaining pet-related articles, blogs and stories.

Q: What is one fun fact about your business?

A: I once cared for a group of seven semi-social cats, each with their own unique personality. They had a special cat room that led to a beautifully landscaped, outdoor, fenced enclosure just for them. At dinnertime, my job was to herd them back inside from the enclosure, guiding them safely into their cat room for the night—an adventure of its own!
