Full daytime closures of Highway 192 in Carpinteria began Sept. 8 and are expected to last through the end of the month.
The shutdown takes place 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday between Shepard Mesa Road and Highway 150.
Crews are installing a bi-directional potable water transmission main connecting Casitas Municipal Water District in Ventura County and Carpinteria Valley Water District in Santa Barbara County.
The following detours are available:
· Travelers on Hwy. 150 wanting to exit onto Hwy. 192 will need to travel further south on Hwy. 150 (Rincon Road) and exit onto northbound Hwy. 101 toward Carpinteria. From northbound 101, travelers will need to exit onto northbound Casitas Pass Road, Via Real Road, to turn right on Casitas Pass Road toward Hwy. 192.
· Travelers southbound on Hwy. 192 toward Hwy. 150 will be detoured off Hwy. 192 on Casitas Pass Road toward Hwy. 101. Travelers will then be able to take Hwy. 101 southbound and exit at Hwy. 150.
Access will be allowed to residents in the area of the full closure. Message and directional signs will alert travelers in advance of the closure.
The full daytime closure work is expected to be completed by the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 25.
