Gabriella Wilcox scored a looping shot over the Pacifica goalkeeper to give Dos Pueblos a key 1-0 Channel League win against visiting Pacifica. 

Maggie Gallup filled in at GK for the Chargers and recorded the shutout.

“It was a fast & physical game tonight,” Dos Pueblos coach Marco Medina said. “The team gave 100% effort and were finally rewarded with a win.

“They outworked the opponent, chasing every through ball and pressuring in the attacking third.”

The Chargers, now 2-5-4 in league play and 4-7-4 overall, host Santa Barbara at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

San Marcos 3, Santa Barbara 0

Caitlyn Sparks led the Royals to the Channel League shutout against the Dons.

“We were able to contain them for most of the first half, but we had trouble keeping track of Caitlyn Sparks, who is very good on the ball,” said Santa Barbara coach Willie Sims.  “We had lot of good moments with our young team tonight, but we still need to mature in some areas.”

Freshmen Zeina Matni and Charlotte Hastings and sophomore Wendy Guarneros scored for San Marcos, which has won four and tied one in its last seven league matches. The Royals are 4-5-3 in league and 8-7-4 overall.

San Marcos has a shot at finishing fourth in league. It plays Oxnard on Monday and Pacifica on Wednesday.

Santa Barbara is 0-11 in league.
