Pacifica Graduate Institute Alumni Association (PGIAA) will host its free BEAM (Bridging Education, Ambition and Meaningful Work) Career Fair 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 at Pacifica’s Ladera Lane Campus, 801 Ladera Lane, Santa Barbara.

The BEAM fair offers career suggestions and support to alumni/ae, students, and community members from different backgrounds.

The event will feature corporate, government, and nonprofit agencies promoting internships and career opportunities in a variety of fields including business, sciences, social work, behavioral sciences, and liberal arts. There will also be presenters, and workshops.

Keynote speaker is Lisa Wong, director of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH). Wong, who earned her Psy.D. from the Pacifica Graduate Institute and her M.A. in clinical psychology from California State University, Los Angeles,.

Wong is a lifelong advocate for vulnerable populations and social justice issues. She spent more than two decades working in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles providing care to some of the county’s most vulnerable and high-risk individuals experiencing serious mental illness and homelessness.

Before her current role, Wong served as the Mental Health Clinical Program head over Downtown Mental Health Center’s general outpatient services, CalWORKs/GROW, and Prevention & Early Intervention programs.
