Santa Barbara County Public Health Department will hold Back-to-School Health Fairs in Santa Barbara, Lompoc and Santa Maria during National Health Center Week, which recognizes the critical work of the County Health Care Centers.
The health fairs aim to prepare families and students for the upcoming school year offering sports physicals, school-required immunizations, and access to various family resources.
More than 50 community organizations will provide services such as fire safety information, immigration resources, nutrition education, and mental health resources.
Last year’s event was attend by some 1,600 participants,and more are expected this year.
The health fairs will take place the following dates and locations:
· Tuesday, Aug. 6, 3-7 p.m. at Franklin Health Care Center, 1136 E. Montecito St., Santa Barbara.
· Wednesday, Aug. 7, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lompoc Health Care Center, 301 North “R” St., Lompoc.
· Thursday, Aug. 8, 3-7 p.m. at Santa Maria Health Care Center, 2115 Centerpointe Pkwy., Santa Maria.
Some elected officials will be attending the events as well.
Aug. 6, in Santa Barbara – U.S. Rep. Salud Carbajal, and representatives for state Sen. Monique Limón and for 2nd District Supervisor Laura Capps.
Aug. 7, in Santa Maria – 4th District Supervisor Bob Nelson, 5th District Supervisor and Board Chair Steve Lavagnino.
Aug. 8 in Lompoc – 4th District Supervisor Bob Nelson and representative for 3rd District Supervisor Hartmann.
County Public Health Director Mouhanad Hammami will be attending all three health fairs.
