The Santa Barbara County Fair returns to the Santa Maria Fairpark, Wednesday, July 9 through Sunday, July 13, with exhibits, family-friendly entertainment, and time-honored agricultural traditions.

This year’s fair is dedicating the Junior Livestock Auction in memory of Jim Glines, a beloved community leader and lifelong supporter of youth in agriculture.

Glines, former president/CEO of Santa Maria Community Bank, began his involvement with the Junior Livestock Program as a young exhibitor. After his showing days, he became a dedicated buyer, both personally and through the bank, and a champion of the fair’s mission.

For more than 30 years, Glines served as a volunteer auctioneer at the Junior Livestock Auction, lending his voice and his heart to help young exhibitors succeed.

His commitment and generous spirit left a lasting legacy throughout the Santa Maria Valley.

“Jim Glines embodied the spirit of this fair. His leadership, generosity, and heart for youth in agriculture helped shape what our livestock program is today,” said Kevin Miller, president of the 37th District Agricultural Association.

“Dedicating this year’s Junior Livestock Auction in his honor is a small way to recognize a lifetime of service and an unwavering commitment to our community,” Miller said.
