The 81st Annual Santa Maria Elks Rodeo and Parade dates for 2024 will be Thursday, May 30-Sunday, June 2, the Elks Recreation Board of Directors has announced. The rodeo will be held at the Elks Event Center. The Elks Rodeo Parade will be Saturday, June 1.
Elks Rodeo activities begin Saturday, April 6 with the Queen Kickoff Dinner and Auction where four young women will begin competing for the Elks Rodeo Queen title through fundraiser efforts for their sponsoring organization.
Following is information about the various rodeo events, including entry deadlines.
Elks Team Roping Event
The Santa Maria Elks Rodeo Office is accepting entries for the Elks Team Roping Event until Friday, April 26.
Entry forms are online at elksrec.com. Download and complete the form and return it with the entry fee to the Elks Rodeo Office, 2325 Skyway Drive, Ste. H, Santa Maria, or email entries to elksrodeo@elksrec.com and office staff will contact you for credit card payment.
Entrants will be required to show proof of a valid Elks membership card. All entrants must be a member of one of the West Central Coast Elks Lodges and current on membership dues.
Both team members must sign a release of liability. Entry fee is $125 per team. Entries are limited to two Elks members or a member with their spouse, child or grandchild, age 18 or younger.
Any Elk Heeler, 55 or older, can tie on. PRCA and Elks Team ropers may only compete in one of the team roping events, not both, unless they are a PRCA Gold Card holder. All entries must be completed and entry fees paid by deadline.
Entrants will compete for $1,000 added purse money and awards. Registration deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, April 26.
Jr Breakaway Roping
Santa Maria Elks Rodeo has announced that Jr Breakaway Roping is part of this year’s event. Entries are now open and will open close Friday, April 26.
Jr Breakaway Roping offers an opportunity for youth to participate in the annual rodeo in this new event that is spreading across the nation.
There will be money payouts and a champion buckle awarded to the winner in two age divisions, ages 12 and under, and ages 13 through 17.
