Youth Leadership Lompoc Valley (YLLV) will introduce the Class of 2023-24 to the community at the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce’s October luncheon, Thursday, Oct. 19 at Mi Amore Pizza & Pasta, 1321 North H St., Lompoc. Check-in is at 11:15 a.m.

Individuals or businesses are invited to get to know Lompoc Valley’s future leaders by attending the luncheon and by sponsoring a student’s meal.

YLLV is a program for students entering their junior year of high school. It is designed to motivate and empower the students through team building, issues-related seminars, community projects and interaction with community leaders.

Founded in 1998, YLLV was a collaboration between the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Lompoc Unified School District, set up as an investment in the future of the Lompoc Valley through the education of developing youth as community leaders.

After a two-day retreat, students participate in monthly Topic Days during the school year focused on an industry or theme within the Lompoc Valley.

Topics usually include law enforcement, military, aerospace, education, business and economics, quality of life and health and human services.

Local leaders in those fields work with students, providing hands-on experiences and participation in community activities.

At the program’s conclusion, business, community, and local legislative leaders interact with students and participate in the end-of-the-year reception and graduation.

Cost to attend the luncheon is $16. All sponsored student luncheons are $16. The meal includes an all-you-can-eat buffet and drink.

To register, visit the Event Calendar at www.Lompoc.com. Registration is required by Monday, Oct. 16.
