Bishop Diego girls basketball punched its ticket into the Avalon Basketball Classic title game with a doubleheader sweep on Tuesday.

The Cardinals began their day with a 50-33 win over Pacifica Christian before taking down San Marino, 62-54. Bishop Diego and Pacifica Christian will square off for the tournament title on Wednesday.

Eden Wynne paced the Cardinals with 14 points against Pacifica Christian, while Alyssa Chrestenson, Jeisa Coronado and Luz Castro all chipped in eight points.

Coronado stayed hot against San Marino with a team-high 18 points. Wynne and Jaymi Coronado closely followed with 17 points, including 15 second-half points by Wynne and 11 second-quarter points from Jaymi Coronado.

“We threw a few different defensive looks depending on the situation and the girls did a great job adapting,” Bishop Diego head coach Jeff Burich said.

Glen Wilson 68, Dos Pueblos 53

The Chargers capped off the SoCal Classic with a loss to Glen Wilson on Tuesday.

The opening quarter was a tight one, as Glen Wilson escaped with a narrow 18-15 lead. Dos Pueblos struggled offensively in the second and third quarters to fall behind 53-33.

Despite the Chargers pouring in 20 points in the fourth quarter, their comeback effort came up short.

Kindah Ahmad-Reda paced the Dos Pueblos offensive effort with 16 points, while Charlotte Gardiner scored nine points. The young trio of Gabi Natrielli, Sophie Heinemann and Lucy Holian combined for 16 points off the bench.

The Chargers (8-9, 2-1 Channel League) will host Santa Barbara High on Tuesday, Jan. 6.
