Bishop Diego girls basketball kicked off its Tri-Valley League schedule with a 63-6 rout of Santa Clara on Saturday.
The Cardinals had 10 different players score in the win, with Alyssa Chrestenson’s 17 points leading the charge. Luz Castro chipped in nine points.
“We did a nice job sharing the ball today,” Bishop Diego head coach Jeff Burich said. “Jaymi and Jeisa both had many nice assists to get players open shots. Alyssa was effective in attacking the basket and getting offensive rebounds.
“I credit the team for getting everyone involved today.”
The Cardinals (9-2, 1-0 TVL) will compete in the Avalon Classic on Monday, Dec. 29.
San Marcos 46, Lompoc 31
The Royals battled their way to a low-scoring win over the Braves on Saturday in Lompoc.
“We did a really good job defensively tonight, not allowing Lompoc to get the shots they wanted,” San Marcos head coach Devin Uyesaka said. “We were more disciplined and not gambling as much. We’re doing a really good job staying active with our hands and getting deflections.
“It was good to see how we responded tonight after such a demanding triple overtime game. Thursday’s game took a lot out of us, but our squad has been holding strong through this stretch of games.”
Jada Ahmad paced the San Marcos offense with 15 points, while Izzy Schow ended with 14 of her own.
Oak Park 67, Dos Pueblos 29
The Chargers struggled to keep up with Oak Park in a non-league matchup on Saturday.
Dos Pueblos held an early 7-6 lead, but Oak Park quickly gained control of the game and rolled to the big win.
Carly Letendre continued her strong start to the season with 14 points for the Chargers.
Dos Pueblos (5-5, 1-1 Channel League) will be on the road against Rio Mesa on Tuesday.
