Dos Pueblos girls basketball got out to a fast start and never looked back en route to a 60-38 win over Rio Mesa on Tuesday night in Oxnard.

The Chargers raced out to a commanding 24-6 lead in the first quarter and continued to roll on both ends in the second, building up a 43-18 lead by halftime.

Dos Pueblos slowed down the pace of play in the second half and cruised to the Channel League win.

While Carly Letendre led the scoring attack with 20 points, Kindah Ahmad-Reda finished with an impressive near triple-double of 14 points, 13 rebounds and nine steals.

Asha Nayak collected 12 points of her own, while Charlotte Gardiner chipped in 10 points, all in the first quarter. On the defensive end, Dos Pueblos totaled 24 steals as a team.

The Chargers (6-5, 2-1 Channel League) will open the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions against JSerra on Friday at 6 p.m. inside J.R. Richards Gym at Santa Barbara High.

Buena 62, Santa Barbara High 20

The Dons dropped their Channel League matchup with the Bulldogs on Tuesday inside J.R. Richards Gym.

Despite the loss, Santa Barbara High head coach Andrew Butcher is encouraged by the signs his young team is showing at this point in the season.

“We are starting to understand ball movement and penetration, and that’s a big step,” Butcher said.

Shea Gannon led the Dons once again in the paint, scoring in a team-high nine points and hauling in nine rebounds.

“Shea continues to lead us in points and rebounds. Her intensity level continues to improve as she gains experience and becomes more confident in her role,” Butcher said.

Santa Barbara High will host Arroyo Grande on Friday at 7:30 p.m. for its first game of the Tournament of Champions.

Oxnard 46, San Marcos 30

The Royals fell into a hole in the first quarter and couldn’t climb out of it in a loss to the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday in Oxnard.

“We didn’t come out firing in this game,” San Marcos head coach Devin Uyesaka said. “Oxnard did a good job of speeding us up and we rushed our opportunities.”

Lily Ruvalcaba shined for the Royals, collecting an impressive 16 points, 16 rebounds, nine blocks and three steals. Jada Ahmad chipped in eight points.

“[Ruvalcaba] was everywhere and constantly putting her body on the line for the team,” Uyesaka said.

Cate 43, Laguna Blanca 29

The Rams took down their league rival Owls in a defensive battle on Tuesday night.

Emerson Evans led the Cate scoring attack with 13 points, while Jasper Shelmerdine ended the night with 11 points.

“This was a major team win for Cate and an exciting way to close out the 2025 basketball year,” Rams head coach Laura Moore said. “When sophomore point guard Josie Song suffered an ankle injury early in the second quarter, others were forced into unfamiliar roles.

“Rather than lose composure, the Rams rallied, displaying growth and resilience… The Rams head into the new year energized and excited to build on a complete and hard-earned team victory.”
