San Marcos girls beach volleyball made it a perfect Channel League season with a 5-0 sweep of Ventura on Monday.
At the No. 1 duo, solid blocking from Cora Loomer and strong defense by Josie Gamberdella gave them a 21-17, 23-21 victory.
The Royals’ Elena Thomas and Evyn Miller used a crafty offensive attack to pick up a two-set win at the twos, 21-17, 21-14.
The No. 3 pairing of Kaylin Cooney and Paige Hoadley used their serving and option plays to earn their victory at 21-14, 21-18.
At the four spot, Katie Kracke and Reese Paskin dominated their way to a 21-10, 21-14 victory for San Marcos.
The closest matchup of the day came at the No. 5 court, where Luana Acosta and Gracie Stone battled to a three-set win, 19-21, 21-17, 15-10.
Malia Hetrick and Ava Vasquez were the sixth San Marcos duo to win, coming away with 21-10, 21-6 victories.
The Royals will host Oaks Christian on Tuesday.
Santa Barbara 5, Oxnard 0
The Dons also earned a Channel League sweep on Monday at West Beach.
All five of Santa Barbara’s wins came in two sets, beginning with a commanding win for the No. 1 pairing of Gwen Chenoweth and Keenan Engebretson, 21-8, 21-9.
At the twos, Lucy Fisher and Stella Borgioli came away with a win with scores of 21-10, 21-13.
Lola Heckman and Lexi Horton also cruised to their two-set win at the No. 3 court, 21-8, 21-9.
In the No. 4 faceoff, the Dons duo of Christa Moellekan-Lezama and Madi Press pulled out a 21-14, 21-14 win.
Rounding out the wins for Santa Barbara were Ona Caballero and Lauren McFadden, who won 21-9, 21-7 at the fives.
“This was a great overall showing for the entire squad,” Dons coach Kristin Hempy said. “There was consistent play in the wind, great serving and great serve receive.”
