San Marcos girls beach volleyball completed its perfect Channel League season with a 5-0 sweep of crosstown rival Dos Pueblos on Monday at Ridgway Courts.

The Royals ended the regular season with an overall record of 23-2 and went 12-0 in Channel League play for the third consecutive season. The lone losses came to No. 1-ranked Mira Costa and No. 2 Redondo Union.

San Marcos also celebrated its 16-person senior class in a Senior Day ceremony before Monday’s match.

Of the 16 seniors, Cora Loomer (UCLA), Samantha Fallon (LSU), Evyn Miller (San Jose State) and Jeannie Johnson (Master’s University) will be playing beach volleyball at the college level.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Hastings (Seattle Pacific), Gracie Stone (Emory) and Lila Westmacott (Claremont McKenna-Harvey Mudd-Scripps) will continue their indoor volleyball careers in college.

“This is just an exceptional group of girls,” San Marcos head coach Tim Loomer said. “This group of 16 seniors has had an incredible amount of success on the indoor court, beach courts, and in the classroom.”

The Royals’ top duo of Cora Loomer/Miller finished off their undefeated Channel League campaign with a 21-15, 21-9 victory over Allie Ben-Yaacov/Char Welch.

Meanwhile, San Marcos’ Reese Paskin/Alina Stapf earned a 21-14, 21-17 win over Faith Harrison/Kyra Sample at the twos and Paige Hoadley/Hastings kept it rolling for the Royals on court three by taking down Ruby Dunlop/Mia Taylor, 21-6, 21-13.

At the fours, Westmacott/Isla McClintock of San Marcos picked up a 21-11, 21-19 win over Athena Bardakos/Moana Martinez, and Malia Hetrick/Jordan Schmoller rounded out the sweep with a 21-17, 21-16 victory against Hanna Wood/Maeve Jaeger.

The Royals and Chargers will now head into the Channel League Individual Pairs Tournament on Thursday at East Beach.

Santa Barbara High 5, Oxnard 0

The Dons wrapped up their Channel League team season with a sweep of Oxnard on Monday at East Beach.

“We had gusts over 25mph, so it was not ideal beach volleyball weather, but our girls did a nice job settling down and using ball control and smart serving to get the win,” Santa Barbara High head coach Kristin Hempy said.

The Dons also celebrated their senior class of Peyton Herlihy, Gabby Cajuste and Lauren McFadden.

The Santa Barbara High No. 1 pairing of Lola Heckman/Kira Elliott cruised to a 21-10, 21-10 win, while the No. 2 duo of Blake Saunders/Paylin Marcillac battled to a three-set victory, 16-21, 21-14, 15-7.

At court three, Grace Costner/Stella Peus pulled out a back-and-forth three-set win 21-17, 17-21, 15-11, and Phoebe Peterson/Gabby Cajuste earned a 21-13, 21-12 victory.

Peyton Herlihy/Delilah Ficker capped off the win for the Dons on court five with a 15-21, 21-14, 15-4 win.

Santa Barbara High (13-8, 8-4 Channel League) will take on Oaks Christian in a non-league match on Wednesday.
