Dos Pueblos girls golf continued its strong season with a Channel League win over Buena on Thursday at Glen Annie Golf Course.
The Chargers combined for a team score of 209 to beat out the Bulldogs at 267 and advance to 7-1 on the season and 3-1 in league play.
Celeste Alcaraz was once again the top golfer for Dos Pueblos, earning medalist honors after shooting an even-par 35, including an eagle on hole seven.
Alcaraz was followed by teammates Sophia Fuste (40), Sophie Ralston (42), Bella Sebastian (43), Cecilia Soberano (49) and Ursula Solodkin (53).
“Sophia was solid out on the course today, shooting a new personal best,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Choi said. “I was also very proud of our senior captain Sophie Ralston. She was really struggling on the range during the warm-up and really turned it around.
“[Soberano] is super dedicated, putting time in over the weekends, so it is great to see her going low.”
San Marcos 258, Righetti 285
The Royals earned a non-league win over Righetti on Wednesday at Sandpiper Golf Course, a par 36.
“Righetti is a respectable opponent and well-coached. We look forward to a close match with them each year,” San Marcos head coach Sarah Ashton said.
The San Marcos duo of Mia Rocha and Simrin Singh led all golfers, sharing co-medalist honors with their scores of 48.
The Royal golfers were rounded out by Chloe Bellamy (49), Sierra Kaderali (54), Hayden Anderson (59) and Andra Dussert (61).
“This week is a bit of a grind with three matches and the Homecoming events coming up this weekend. I’m proud of the girls for being able to focus on the course and continue to be great teammates to one another,” Ashton said.
San Marcos is now 9-1 overall and remains 4-0 in Channel League play.
