San Marcos girls lacrosse dominated every aspect of the game in a 17-1 victory over Valencia on Thursday at Warkentin Stadium.

The Royals are now 5-0 on the young season against non-league opponents. They will be on the road for a matchup against a strong Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks team on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

“We were dominant in the midfield on this one for everything from draws to ground balls to defending our players everywhere on the field before they got the ball,” San Marcos head coach Paul Ramsey said.

“We will need a complete game at Notre Dame and we are going to be ready.”

The Royals raced out to an 11-0 halftime lead on Thursday and never looked back en route to the lopsided win.

Seven different players scored for San Marcos with Clara Stump’s four goals leading the way. Meanwhile, Sadi Adams and Liv Plourde each scored three times.

Victoria Aldana tallied two goals and six assists. Her six assists are a program record for a single game.

Defensively, Carly Grant tallied five saves to lead a strong overall effort from the Royals.

“Our defense was outstanding tonight and I’d like to recognize Jocelyn Duncan, Carly Grant, Sophia Llewellyn, Barbie Maganda, Maddie Medina, Mia Richmond and Charlotte Smythe since they do such a great job but don’t often get mentioned,” Ramsey said.

Dos Pueblos 10, Santa Monica 9

The Chargers came from behind to earn a non-league road win over Santa Monica on Thursday.

Santa Monica held a 7-5 lead after the third quarter and opened the fourth with back-to-back goals to extend its lead to four.

However, Dos Pueblos’ Linnea Clapinski, who ended with a team-high six goals, then scored three straight times to cut the deficit to 9-8.

Chloe Gotsis then knotted things up with under two minutes remaining and Reagan Arnold scored her third and final goal of the night for the game-winner with less than a minute left on the clock.

“Our defense played a very strong game today and our offense got hot at the right time to give us the victory today,” Chargers head coach Dan Feldhaus said.

“Linnea was determined today and scored a personal best six goals. Reagan scrambled to pick up a contested ground ball and drove to the goal for the game winner.”

In the cage, Stella Lawler collected eight saves for Dos Pueblos (3-2), who will host Orange Lutheran next Wednesday.
