San Marcos girls lacrosse clinched back-to-back Channel League titles with a 19-2 rout of Thacher on Tuesday at Warkentin Stadium.

The Royals (14-2, 8-0 Channel League) also celebrated their nine seniors in a Senior Night pregame ceremony.

“It feels really good to repeat and I’m not even sure all the players realize it,” San Marcos head coach Paul Ramsey said.  “Our focus has been the process of playing our best that leads to success and taking care of the hustle plays, so tomorrow will be high fives all around for sure.”

San Marcos dominated Tuesday’s contest from start to finish, outscoring Thacher 4-0 in the first quarter before turning it up a notch and expanding the lead to 11-0 by halftime.

The Royals continued to cruise throughout the first half, surrendering two fourth-quarter goals but holding on for the lopsided victory.

San Marcos had 10 different players register either a goal or an assist in the win, including an assist from senior Maddie Kelly, who was only meant to get a ceremonial start while dealing with a season-ending injury.

“I’m so happy for Maddie it worked out that way even though it wasn’t quite the plan,” Ramsey said.  “I was a little stressed she was going to take some contact or something but she didn’t.”

Liv Plourde and Josephine Grossman led the Royals with four goals while Sadi Adams collected two goals and four assists

San Marcos will take on Dos Pueblos on the road on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Scott O’Leary Stadium.

“Thursday is our opportunity to put together our best game of the season while we compete with an improved Dos Pueblos team,” Ramsey said.

The Chargers took control of the game early and never looked back en route to a rivalry win over the Dons on Senior Night at Scott O’Leary Stadium on Tuesday.

“Our team is playing well right now and we are playing with a lot of confidence,” Dos Pueblos head coach Dan Feldhaus said. “We had a great celebration of our seniors prior to the game and that energy carried into the first half. I am super proud of these seniors.”

The Chargers jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opening quarter before taking complete command in the second quarter, outscoring Santa Barbara High 6-0 to race out to an 11-1 halftime lead.

The Dons found some more success with four goals in the second half, but Dos Pueblos took care of business for the 14-5 win.

The Chargers turned in a balanced scoring attack as Reagan Arnold, Eloise Shea and Sophie Dent all scored three times. Meanwhile, Chloe Gostis and Linnea Clapinski each scored twice.

In the cage, Stella Lawler racked up 16 saves to lead a strong all-around defensive effort.

Dos Pueblos (8-8, 5-3 Channel League) will host the Royals on Thursday.
