Cate girls volleyball put together a strong performance in front of its home crowd, rolling to a sweep of Villanova Prep on Tuesday in Carpinteria.

The Rams got out to a fast start and never looked back en route to the win, 25-16, 25-14, 25-23.

“We were able to beat a solid team without passing very well, which was pretty impressive,” Cate head coach Jordon Dyer said. “Our play at the net helped separate us in the middle of the game, and our middles established themselves early.

“We scored a lot of points on the service line and ultimately found ways to finish the game.”

The Rams will honor their seniors at home on Thursday against St. Bonaventure.

Laguna Blanca 3, Thacher 0

The Owls continued their strong Frontier League season with a sweep of the Toads on Tuesday, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22.

“We played well enough to win tonight but lacked some energy from the jump,” Laguna Blanca head coach Tanner Stevens said. “The girls stepped up when it mattered most at the end of each set.

“We head into senior night looking to send our seniors off on a positive note to end the regular season.”

Sage Holcombe hammered down nine kills to lead the Owls, while Maritt Blabey supplied seven aces and Abby Connor turned in a strong performance setting and on the defensive end.

Laguna Blanca will celebrate Senior Night and bring the regular season to an end against Dunn on Thursday.

The Chargers went on the road and came back with a four-set win over the Bulldogs in Ventura on Tuesday, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 30-28.

Addie Low had a monster night on both ends, collecting 16 kills to go along with 32 digs. Charlize Welch also recorded a double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs.

Allie Ben-Yaacov filled up the stat sheet with 41 assists and 11 digs, while Tanner Love scooped up 19 digs of her own.

The Cardinals dropped a back-and-forth five-set battle with the Seraphs on Tuesday, 25-18, 19-25, 23-25, 25-20, 14-16.
