Gloria Jean Dominguez passed away on May 30, 2025, following complications from pneumonia.

Gloria fell ill while visiting her beloved daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in Colorado, and was surrounded by those closest to her at the time of her passing.

Gloria was born in Santa Barbara on Oct. 31, 1952 to Robert and Betty Dominguez.

Gloria had strong ties to the Santa Barbara community: she attended Dos Pueblos High School and was a proud eighth-generation Santa Barbaran; a member of the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians; and a Santa Barbara Presidio descendent.

She was an active member of the Assistance League of Santa Barbara and Native Daughters of the Golden West Reina Del Mar Parlor No. 126. In this capacity, Gloria had the honor of portraying Saint Barbara during the 2000 Old Spanish Days Fiesta.

After a successful career in banking, in retirement, Gloria enjoyed working in her garden, volunteering, traveling, and hosting gatherings.

She lived life to the fullest, and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a dedicated mother first and foremost, and especially cherished her role as “Gigi’ to her three grandchildren who will miss her dearly.

Gloria is survived by her daughter Rebecca Broadfoot and son-in-law Eric Broadfoot; her three adoring grandchildren Mila, Quinn and Bruce Broadfoot; her loving mother Betty Dominguez; siblings David Dominguez, Donald Dominguez, Anna Shinkwin, and Rose Mainhardt; as well as many others who she touched during her 72 years of life.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Dominguez and brother Paul Dominguez.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Arlington Theatre Courtyard, 2 p.m. Saturday, June 21. All are welcome to attend, and encouraged to bring any photos/mementos/notes to hang on our Memory Tree. Please wear colors in honor of the vibrance Gloria brought to the world.

“Your Hug Meant the World

Nobody else held me so tight

Or made me feel so right

No one’s eyes shined so bright with love

As my mom, who is now high above.”
