A strong performance by goalie Andrew Sheshunoff propelled the Cate boys water polo team to a signature win on Friday, an 8-6 victory at Ventura.
Sheshunoff made 15 saves, including several in the fourth period.
“Andrew Sheshunoff was incredible, tallying his season high in saves, some down the stretch in critical moments,” said Cate coach Jesse Morrison.
Eman Brine and Anthony Tung each scored two goals and Monty Prince had three assists and a goal for the Rams in the tight, defensive game against a strong Channel League program.
“This was an awesome game for us to be a part of,” said Morrison, whose team is now 5-0. “Being challenged by a well-coached, strong top-to-bottom team is just what our group needed. I was proud of how we responded when the momentum flipped or things weren’t going our way.”
The Rams’ next game is Wednesday at Nordhoff.
