Two local youth softball leagues are coming together to provide more opportunities for athletes.

Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association, or GVGSA, is partnering with the Carpinteria Valley Girls Softball League in an effort to revitalize the Carpinteria softball scene.

The CVGSL has not run its league since 2021, and Carpinteria community members are looking to bring the league back.

So, GVGSA, which welcomes girls ages 5-14, will open its arms and allow players from Carpinteria to play in their league for the upcoming 2024 season.

The players from Carpinteria will play against the Goleta teams at Dos Pueblos and hopefully, Santa Barbara High to ease the drive, according to GVGSA President Vince Holian.

“We look forward to our partnership with Carpinteria Girls Softball this year and hope for continued success for both leagues in the future,” Holian said.

The partnership will not change the structure of GVGSA, it will simply be adding more players to the league.

“The ultimate goal is for Carpinteria to have their own league again,” Holian said. “When they did, we had a good league to play friendly games against.”

Registration for the GVGSA 2024 Spring Recreation League is open through Jan. 27. Click here to learn more.
